9/11

Today is the Anniversary of a terrible injustice.

A day to remember those who died... those who fought back... those who worked so hard to help and are now joining the ranks of those killed by terrorists... those who were injured... those whose livelyhoods were destroyed.

We usually focus on those who died and the people that loved them... often forgetting to remember the survivors and witnesses... I hope they realize this is a day for them also.

Because of the internet and media... we were all witness to and deeply impacted by the hijackings and killings. This is a day for us too... a day to remember how we felt and renew that feeling of unity, determination and patriotism.

I watched the the Rising documentaries... where they showed the work at Ground Zero and the surrounding area. I liked the interviews with people, the background stories, and the way they showed the progress of the cleanup, told of the difficulties in the neighborhood, and showed the building of Tower 1, the National 9/11 Memorial, the Transit Hall and the Museum.

The Memorial Falls and the Survivor Tree are amazing to me.

It is now late and I am watching the Memorial Services held today...

I missed the beginning of the National 9/11 Memorial, found it when they were reading the names... so many people :(

The Falls are absolutely amazing... and as someone on the Rising said... they leave a void, that will never be filled, but we have continued on and rebuilt better and stronger... I am paraphrasing, but that is what I got out of it... lol

Hopefully there will be a nice completed Memorial site in Shanksville, Pa soon. People who have the willingness to sacrifice to save others and quickly work together to do so deserve to be honored and remembered. They should be held up as shining examples of courage, citizenship, and patriotism.

"We gather here to remember ordinary men and women who did an extra-ordinary act of courage in an extra-ordinary way", what a wonderfully clear and simple truth... thank you Rev. Paul Britton.

The ringing of the bells is always so sad...

May we all do extra-ordinary things when it is needed.

The Soldiers marching out with flowers at the Pentagon was very moving to me. I also liked VP Bidens speech, well most of it, since I missed the last few minutes... lol

There were aspects of todays Memorial Services that irked me tho...

This is not Veterans Day, Memorial Day or Thank a Soldier day... it is 9/11.

While it is good to thank and remember our military and civilian heroes... today was a time for remembrance... remembrance of the people... remembrance of the shock... remembrance of our unity... remembrance of our determination. A time to celebrate our resolve, our dealing out justice, and our rebuilding.

Today was not the right time for personal agendas, pushing religion, or touting vengeance.

Also, unless a Memorial is publicized ahead of time that it is to be Christian oriented, it should not be filled with prayers to Jesus and hymns.

As someone in Pa said today... it is harder for the living.

May we as individuals and a Nation...

Learn and Grow...

Unite...

Never Forget!
